Hello world.
Living sans computer for two weeks is quite feat... I have been unable to process my photos, especially my 52 weeks project. I've shot the last month in film...and they're still at the devs because I didn't have time to pick them up before I left HK.
Still don't have my Retina Macbook yet... they're out of stock. :( Think I'll be getting it around mid-late August time. Bought my Tamron 90 macro, 17-50 and the EF 10-22 to YVR and hoping to shoot some good ones. Will try to keep my photostream going! Miss my poor neglected Flickr!

(This is part 2 of this story.) While I was photographing my page o' faves, these two guys came out of the building for a smoke. "What are you doing?" one of them asked. "I'm taking pictures of pictures," I said. "You're not vandalizing the building or anything, are you?" he said. 'Oh, no, of course not," I said--truthfully, because I was beautifying it, right? "Are those pictures any good?" he asked. "Yes, come over and see," I said. So the dudes come over and of course I rope them into letting me photograph them ... the one on the left had to put his goggles on first.
I'm going to go vandalize, er, I mean beautify, stuff more often.

Sailing in the Baltic Sea somewhere south of Karlskrona. The sea here is completely different to the Finnish coastline: there are no islands, and we could easily sail for a few hours without seeing a sight of land, another vessel, or a bird. July 2008.

This gets my vote for the most unusual of all the covers Bolles did for that magazine. Aside from being done in what is close to a photo-realistic style (and keep in mind that Bolles has been described as a cartoonist) there are very few of his signature flourishes. The hands are nicely rendered but are not all typical Bolles poses. The faces are nearly exact copies from the photo Bolles used for this cover (it's on my blog site). The only giveaways are that their smiles are a bit toothy and eyes squintier than the photo. The bikini tops do have nice floral patterns that Bolles often applied to costumes, but otherwise this cover is as far from a typical Bolles as they get.

My kids saw Jason Lee's easter photo of his kids and they wanted to do the same thing.. I wasn't planning on using this for my 365, it was just going to be an easter photo for them, but I ran out of time and didn't do another photo for today, so this is it. If you haven't heard of Jason Lee's or his kids, you're in for a big treat. He is by far the most creative photographer there is... all of his work is absolutely amazing.

Backlight 1: Alienbees B800 on back left behind subject with Medium Soft Box and Grid, 45 degree angle, 1/2 power
Backlight 2: Alienbees B800 on back right behind subject with Medium Soft Box and Grid, 45 degree angle, 1/2 power
Front Light: Alienbees B800 with 22" beautydish above facing down at a 45 degree angle. 1/2 power
Ring Light: Ring light on camera with Canon 580ex II to create even glow. Full Power
Alienbees were triggered optically from the 580ex II ringflash.
Each kid was shot separately, each egg was shot separately. Broken egg was messy.

Just took 2 minutes at the end of the day to have a little bit of fun. Fridays are casual at the office, and, since I couldn't find a pair of regular clean socks, I slipped on this pair of toe socks. (not bad once you get used to them.)
I simply couldn't resist sneaking in one photo at the end of the day. For the entire 30 seconds, I was afraid someone would see me and think I'd lost it, though.
