BACKSTORY: We staged some photos to re-create The Great Cat Escape Of 2010. Lemonjello, the inferior cat, is superior in a select few ways: And one of those is warning Clint that something is up. When Oranjello was trapped in the crawlspace, Lemonjello literally meowed and led Clint, 5 feet at a time, to the door of the crawlspace.
This other morning, he meowed with similar alarm and tone -- a meow that is even worse than his normal annoying whiny meows. He led me to the living room, where I immediately felt the heat coming in from the missing pane. It fell 4 feet, but did not break (SLACK!). Being a cat-related endeavor, it fell to Carolyn to deal with the consequences. It was all of to fix.
Yes, this window is in terrible condition, as is the sill. It looked especially worse when we put new siding on the house (the rest of our house had looked like that). I don't really see a point in upkeeping them (Repair? Yes. Upkeep? No.) since they really need to be replaced with 2-pane energy efficient windows anyway. It could definitely use a fresh coat of paint. In the interim, we simply put pillows over the hole. This kept the cats in and the heat out. Fortunately, they never go too far when they get out... But right before fixing it, we decided to take some pictures of the unique situation!

Complex tone adjustments to different parts of the photo.
Noise added. Vignette on top corners.
No elements were added or deleted from the original photo though.
P.S. This was really an experiment in post editing to create a whole new (highly stylised) picture and to make some sort of statement... I'm still deciding if I actually like it...

This is a MUST VIEW LARGE to see what she's guarding. There are two photos below, the first is this bird and the second is the first Killdeer that I posted. The first bird's eggs haven't hatched yet but I have a video of her running and faking an injury. I'll post it tomorrow if I can find the editing software and get it to run. The chicks will be up and running shortly after they've hatched. They hunt and feed themselves within a matter of hours. Although they can't fly upon hatching they are otherwise self-sufficient.
Notice the orange dye that's been sprayed around the nest area. You would not believe how many orange dyed areas there are. I was so pleased that the Marina has taken the time to flag these nests so that Moms & Babes won't be disturbed.
You may give the little meager Noms to my brother, I keeps this piece! >Max
